Best slings for alpine draws An alpine draw is a tripled single-length (60 cm) sling with a carabiner on either end. They work in most situations when the route is straight. Since I began climbing I've done the kind of old school method of 10-12 tripled up single length runners (the number I bring depends on how long the pitches will be/if I'm linking, etc). Alpine draws I often use for threads or slinging horns too. If the route goes up in a straight line, then sport-climbing quickdraws may be suitable. I've bought quick draws on sale in 5 packs and cannibalized them to get carabiners to make alpine draws.
